DDU-GKY Manipur

An employment-linked skill development program of the MORD, Govt of India


DDU-GKY is a Government of India Youth Employment Scheme.

It was launched on 25 September 2014 by Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Venkaiah Naidu on the occasion of 98th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.

The Vision of DDU-GKY is to “Transform rural poor youth into an economically independent and globally relevant workforce”. DDU-GKY is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), tasked with the dual objectives of adding diversity to the incomes of rural poor families and cater to the career aspirations of rural youth. A corpus of Rs.1,500 crore is aimed at enhancing the employability of rural youth. Under this programme, disbursements would be made through a digital voucher directly into the bank account of student as part of the government’s skill development initiative.

Over 180 million or 69% of the country’s youth population between the ages of 15 and 35 years, live in its rural areas. Of these, the bottom of the pyramid youth from poor families with no or marginal employment number about 55 million.

DDU-GKY is uniquely focused on rural youth between the ages of 15 and 35 years from such poor families. As a part of the Skill India Campaign, it plays an instrumental role in supporting the social and economic programs of the government like the Make In India, Digital India, Smart Cities and Start-Up India, Stand-Up India campaigns.

SSDH – PIA for DDU-GKY Manipur

SSDH (A division of Visan Hospitality) is an approved Project Implementing Agency (PIA) under Ministry of Rural Development (MORD) flagship program DDU-GKY for the State of Manipur to train Rural BPL youth for the Hospitality Industry.

SSDH is training students in hospitality courses and ensuring job placement on completion of the training program. Students shall also be awarded a certificate from the Government of India on completion of the program.

DDU-GKY Manipur – Program Details

Job Role: Food & Beverage Service Steward & Counter Sales Executive 

Course Duration: 3.5 Months of training of 8 hours each day

Fees Structure: Completely FREE for students (Govt pays for it under the scheme)

Residential Option: Students from State of Manipur are provided free travel and free-of-cost accommodation for the duration of the program.

Minimum Qualification:

  1. Student should be 10th / 12th Pass and 18 years of age
  2. Willingness to work in hotel & hospitality industry post training

Documents Needed:

  1. Valid Aadhaar Card (Rural)
  2. BPL Proof (Valid BPL Ration Card / Valid Job Card / BPL Certificate)
  3. Caste & Tribe Certificate
  4. Education Documents

Total Intake: 380 Students

On Course Completion students will get :

Government Skill Certificate

The students are assessed by the Approved & Authorized Govt Assessing Organization. On successful passing the assessment, the students are given Government Skill Certificate of the Job Role ‘Food & Beverage Steward’.

100% Job Assurance

The students are placed in various Leading Hotels, Fine Dining Restaurants, QSRs with good salaries .The students then are encouraged to work for at least a period of 1 year. Post placement support is provided to the students during the placement.

Six Months Post Placement Support

Stipend for 6 months is provided for students who are working post the successful DDU-GKY Program at SSDH.
