Statistics show that the hospitality industry has been growing at a rapid pace and would grow faster in the years to come. Growth of the tourism sector and the food services sector directly has a positive cascading effect on the hospitality sector. Here’s how:

The industry is expected to generate 13.45 million jobs across sub-segments such as Restaurants (10.49 million jobs), Hotels (2.3 million jobs) and Travel Agents/Tour Operators (0.66 million).

Total contribution by travel and tourism sector to India’s GDP is expected to increase from US$ 136.3 billion in 2015 to US$ 275.2 billion in 2025.

The tourism and hospitality sector is among the top 15 sectors in India to attract the highest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). In the hotel and tourism sector, 100 per cent FDI is allowed through the automatic route.

A number of hotels will open up in the country in the next 5 years with larger brands shifting focus to expanding brand presence.

The Ministry of Tourism plans to help the industry meet the increasing demand of skilled and trained manpower by providing hospitality education to students as well as certifying and upgrading skills of existing service providers.
